Nathalie Plaisance

The French sculptor, who lives in London, makes sculptures for public places, especially parks, using recycled materials. She also teaches her art through workshops for both children and adults, in order to cultivate environmental consciousness. Having visited Greece numerous times, she had no trouble finding inspiration in the natural fauna of Eretria – beetles. She created a scarab sculpture, with a plastic bottle as its entrails, a body made out of newspaper, and the wings out of an old sarong and wire which, she confesses, to her great disappointment and contrary to her values, she had to buy, as she was unable to find any old smitheries in the area.
